Kemery Speaks

To Positively Impact the World Around Me

All About Me

Kemery Oparah, from Atlanta, Georgia, lives with her mom, dad, and two-year old brother, Jeremy. Kemery enjoys spending time with her family and teaching her little brother new things. Fluent in Japanese, Kemery has been teaching Jeremy Japanese too. Kemery loves dance and has been in two productions of the Urban Nutcracker, put on by Ballethnic Dance Studio. She is currently training for her fourth triathlon, which will be her 21st race. Academically, Kemery is a star student and an avid reader. She has even edited two books.

In January 2017, Kemery and her family were invited, by her Japanese teacher, to go to Japan. Determined to go, Kemery decided to turn her passion for language and culture into a business. Kemery is the nine-year old CEO of Kemery Kreates. She began by selling leather bracelets with names and powerful words custom engraved in Japanese. Kemery later added other types of jewelry to be engraved. Her business has landed her on the cover of Fayette Woman Magazine in June 2017 and she was featured in South Fulton Lifestyles Magazine in August 2017. Also, in August 2017, Kemery decided to start a clothing line. She and her parents worked hard, teaching themselves the basics of sewing. Kira by Kemery Kreates, Kemery’s clothing line, launched in November 2017. Kemery Kreates was chosen as one of the Top 10 business finalists for the HERs OWNly Jr. pitch contest in November 2017. In February 2018, Kemery’s clothing line graced the runway of Atlantic City Fashion Week in New Jersey! Kira means beautiful in Japanese. Combining her love for fashion and culture, Kemery wants every girl to know they are beautiful.

Kemery currently gives five percent of her revenue to her church and other charities. She is working on other ways to give back to her community such as teaching Japanese online and having sewing playdates where she can teach other children to sew while making items for children in need such as hats for children having surgery and bags for children in foster care to carry their clothes.

Kemery has a gentle spirit and a dynamic personality. To Kemery, being an author is the next step to broadening her sphere of influence. She wants children to believe that their wildest dreams are able to be achieved if they work hard.
